Good Grief! Vans x Peanuts Has Just Dropped

Teaming up with icons of illustration is nothing new for Vans and I’m really excited about their latest collaboration. On this turn, they fly the kite for everyone’s favourite underdog squad, allowing them a whole new time to shine.

ICYMI (how??), here’s a little scoop on Snoopy…

Peanuts started life as a comic strip launched in October 2nd 1950, and ran to February 13th 2000 written and illustrated by Charles M. Schulz. The friends stole the hearts of millions worldwide running in over 2,600 newspapers reaching an impressive readership of 355 million, and being animated into Emmy award winning TV specials. The format Schultz paved the way for the four-panel comic strip still used now in publications worldwide.

Not bad for a bunch of kids lead by a meek and mild protagonist who couldn’t fly a kite, kick a football or win a baseball game.

The Vans x Peanuts collection features Old Skool Classics, High Tops and Slip Ons complete with Snoopy, Woodstock and the gang referencing a variety of their sweet and iconic situations created by Schultz. Renowned for the themes and social commentary running through all their episodes, it seems like ideal timing for this collection to drop.

What do we want…

Walk A Mile In Mario’s Shoes

After successfully mastering Star Wars, Disney and The Beatles, now Vans are teaming up with yet another pop culture icon in a range of sneakies due to drop this summer. This collaboration is set to be more fun than dodging koopers in the raccoon suit.

According to Sole Collector the new range from this equally iconic duo is coming in June 2016. It will feature mostly 8-bit graphics in a typically Vans twisted range includes high-tops and low riders.

Teasers have made their way online but if the rumors are true, expect some extra bits to be added as time passes.

A Touche Amore Pocket Teaser

Barely big enough to hold a little small change and a travel card, but the world’s love affair with the pocket tee is showing no signs of waning. The likes of Vans, PacSun and even CAMP play no small part in this perpetually dreamy, modern take on 1970’s West Coast dressing – think skate parks, summer camp trims, beachy brights.

So with one hand in your t-shirt pocket, the other can do all sorts of lovely things like peruse the new school versions from Touché Amoré. The LA band keep the curve on the up with a pair of perfect pocket tees.

One takes on an aquarium’s spectrum of tie-dye sewed onto a deep, dark navy worthy of twenty thousand leagues under the sea while the other stays firmly on solid ground. Gardeners world this ain’t, but rose tinted tees are just the ticket for the January blues.

But hey, maybe we’re just reading too much into it. The bottom line, pocket tees are going nowhere so dig in and start here.
