Kurt Cobain’s Suicide Note On A T-Shirt. How Far Is Too Far?

Twenty one years since the passing of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain has been marred in a pretty awful way.

Artists have been releasing controversial merch for years, it’s nothing new: Kanye West’s $82 white tee, UO Kent State/Eat Less etc etc etc – but when we saw this pop up in the news yesterday our brain went into serious “WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?” overdrive. This isn’t the first time in recent history decidedly eye wateringly tasteless fashion has hit the shelves – cough Urban Outfitters cough – but this truly raises the bar. And not in a good way.

The controversial tee naturally sparked outrage, was available on Etsy and eBay but has since been removed from both sites. According to Billboard, sixteen people have obliged by buying the baseball shirt.

Since when has suicide and self harm become fair game in the name of making a quick buck?
